Digipak Analysis: Arctic Monkeys: What ever people say, that's what i'm not i am.

The man on the front and back of the CD cover reflects how the band see's themselves as a band. The band members try to make themselves seem as average people, almost like 'working class' people. They do this in order for their target audience to relate to the band on a personal level. This way, by having what seems to be the 'average' working class man (smoking, normal clothes, standard hair cut) makes the target audience feel as though the album is targeted towards them rather than the upper class who are targeted by other styles of artists in a various of ways.
We decided that we are having the band positioned on a sofa, but having the lead singer positioned on the table in front of the table as we feel that the audience would find that it would be more noticeable if the lead singer was at the front. However, we are going to have the band name framed behind the band on the wall to establish who they are, as well as having the name of the song broke up into different frames underneath the name of the band, again to establish the name of the song.

The mood of this Digipak is reflected through the colour scheme as the colours black and grey resemble dark and depressed meanings. This, in a sense, is what their songs are about, so the mood of the Digipak is shown through the colours, therefore foreshadowing that their songs are going to be about it as well.

We have thought about having quite neutral colours as we feel that it would be more suitable for our genre. However, we will experiment with the colours and decide later on.

The CD cover could somewhat suggest that their music is like the cigarettes in a way, it's implying that their music is in some way addictive, just like cigarettes, connecting them both to the meaning.
