Advert Analysis: Arctic Monkeys - Suck it and see

In order for us to be able to create a good advert for our Digipak, we have t do some research so that we know what artists of the same genre do so we can take inspiration from them. As we have picked an Arctic Monkeys song, i decided to analyse an advert from them.

There is a big bold title right in the middle of the page, therefore meaning that it's the first thing you see when looking at it. There isn't much writing on this advert as it's more about the band and the way they are standing. There is small writing on the bottom of the advert talking about the new album and the release date, which is something that all adverts should include for a new album.
I really like the idea of having a big and bold title as it lets the audience know straight away who the band is and gives off sort of an idea of the band and what sort of music they create.

I really like the colouring of this advert cover as it goes well with the genre of the band. However, the colour is a gold/yellow. Therefore resembling illumination, love, passion and wisdom. The colours represent the band and what their intentions are with their music. The colour of the writing is also quite significant as it works really well with the rest of the advert. On the other hand, the white writing of the release date makes it stand out against the gold background, thus meaning that it's an eye catcher, making the audience want to know what it says.

The positioning of the band is very important as it shows the audience who is the main singer, who the guitarist is and so on. The fact that all of the members of the band are looking off into the distance is also making this advert be more classy. A lot of other adverts either have no image of the band, or an image of the band but the members making direct contact with the camera. However, this advert does not, meaning that it creates more of an eary effect.
I quite like the positioning of the band, as it shows that they are looking off into the distance, giving off the effect that they are professionals and know what they are doing. Another reason for why i like the positioning is that they aren't looking directly into the camera, meaning that we can't really see what they're feeling, giving off a sense of them being unknown.

Overall, this advert is quite bland as it doesn't really include a lot of writing for things such as 'available on itunes' or a barcode etc. And because this doesn't include the main features that it should, it's not something that we will be taking inspiration from.
